Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from an ethnically diverse background. Jacqueline's father Elroy is a Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the oldest of two brothers and a younger sister. She was raised and born in Bahrain. The family of her parents been to the country in the 1980s due to the civil war in Sri Lanka. Her schooling was completed within Bahrain and she won the Scholarship to at the University of Sydney. There she was awarded an Media and Communications degree. Her passion for different cultures and languages led her to join the Berlitz language school, where she mastered French and Arabic while learning Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006 and she competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. In the wake of her 2006 Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone entered the television world and hosted a show about Sri Lankan business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone is the child of of badminton world champion Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew her life in Bangalore and is a native of Copenhagen. When she was a teenager she was a badminton player in national level championships but left her profession in sports to become a fashion model. Padukone comes from Mangalore and her native language is Konkani. Padukone is located within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone is her father and a former badminton star with international recognition. Her mother is an agent of travel.
